Family and Friends To Hold Silent Auction Fundraiser
Clifton, Va. July 1, 2005 -- Dave Armendaris, McLean High School graduate and Clifton resident was recently diagnosed with (A.L.L.) Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is a 39 year-old husband and father to 7 young children, ranging in ages 3-12. Dave’s nine siblings and friends have orchestrated the Friends of Dave fundraising event on Saturday, July 30th from 6-10 PM at the Arlington-Fairfax Elks Lodge, 8421 Arlington Blvd. Fairfax, VA. Through Friends of Dave, the community and Dave’s co-workers, friends, family members, church members, neighbors and new friends in the community can help alleviate some of the financial strain that accompanies illness.
Dave, who has been an employee of Fairfax Auto Body for 21 years, is cherishing each moment with his wife and seven children. While he is now unable to work, he is faced with the dilemma of trying to make ends meet during his lengthy treatments. He is humbled, yet grateful, that those closest to him have gone to such great lengths to arrange this event on behalf of himself, his wife and children, during their time of need.
“Dave does not have short term or long term disability and will be out of work during his chemotherapy. A bone marrow transplant may be necessary depending upon the outcome of his chemo,” says Dave’s sister, Jane Armendaris Gross. “His out of pocket medical expenses will continue to soar. My brother’s biggest concern is not knowing what the financial future holds for his wife and seven children, who had just one year ago, bought their first home.”
The event is open to the public. At $20 per person, attendees will be served a buffet dinner with cash bar and have the opportunity to bid on silent auction items and purchase raffle tickets. The Leukemia Lymphoma Society will be present to educate and boost awareness about this serious disease.
